Seems to me like he's found a niche with high price & low build cost.
Don't know how many he sells.
Sounds like a plan though.
Most of us are lucky to make parts plus minimum wage.
- Steal an early Fender circuit most guitarists haven't played, but one George Fullerton called "possibly the greatest guitar amp we ever made."
- Claim 50 watts, because no one will actually measure.
- Post a picture of yourself as Colonel Mustard in the billiards room, wearing stolen underwear.
- ???
- Profit!!!

I built my second 5b6 in a Blonde Fender cab. I used a 35w/4K OT and Hammond organ PT.

The first 5b6 cage amp is more powerful probably 45w using 700VCT PT and 4k 50w rated OT.

Mark, on the bottom of the 5b6 layout there is a lone octal socket. I could be wrong but i dont think the schematic says what it is. Would you mind enlightening me? :D

On the stock Fender layout is shows the control panel socket. The amp chassis was in the bottom of the cabinet and control panel on top.

Hey guys, thanks for the info and comments, especially those pics!
I've just recently been getting in to pedal steel, and there is a lot of hype about these amps, so naturally I was curious.
I do have a special fondness for octal preamp designs, but it looks as though his prices may be inflated.
Here is a photo of one of my favorite amps (and yes, I use it regularly) which uses the octal preamp.

LMAO!!! YES! Turquoise!!

btw

Fowler is like the Chuck Norris of amp building. He should have his own forum and it should never be posted to. The answer to all questions is simple; don't ask!

Q: Mark, is there an amp you haven't built 5 versions of?

A: Don't ask
