Help finding cab material
I'm looking for cloth or vinyl that is similar to the material in the attached photo which is a Teisco Melody amp.
I think even commercial thick wall paper would work or cloth.

Re: Help finding cab material
Went through 340 pages alone in cloth samples and many more in tolex and vinyl.
Didn't find any tolex, vinyl or wall covering that was correct but found Henderson Snowflake white/black cloth that was a match. No red, green or blue only white.

That is neat looking stuff. Fabric or vinyl, hard to tell. Almost looks like a canvas print.
I think you'd be able to find something approximating that at a fabric store. Print out the photo and take with you and ask the girls at a fabric store, they'll know exactly where to look.

Love that stuff! I am never good at finding the materials I want for specialty coverings. That stuff the xits guy uses is beautiful, for instance.

Love this kinda stuff, too.....
I'd subscribe to this if we had that function.

I think that material was designed by Sandy Chilewich. Joe Morgan uses it on one of his amps too.Reeltarded wrote:That stuff the xits guy uses is beautiful, for instance.

Here's a wild hair idea to consider. If the Snowflake looks right, try some on a piece of scrap lumber. Mix clothing dye to match (admittedly a messy affair, both matching and applying it) and see if you can paint it on to change the color.M Fowler wrote:... found Henderson Snowflake white/black cloth that was a match. Re: Help finding cab material
A lot of those old amps used material that was used on luggage.
Most likely that stuff is not made anymore but you might check various radio restoration places to see what they have.

Re: Help finding cab material
Thanks guys I have pretty much exhausted my search but will start up again after a rest.
I really like the design of this material which I suspect is very thin vinyl and yes like a suitcase material.
The idea of get the white cloth with black accents and dying it just might work. Get some material and cook up some fresh beets with it.

Something else you might try along dying the black and white vinyl fabric is transparent artist's acrylic paints, loads of colours and easy to mix your own custom colours. Not sure how dye would work with a vinyl fabric but the acrylics might be convinced to adhere to the surface after all you would be applying plastic to plastic.

I didn't realize the white/black stuff is vinyl. I thought it was paper. I think it's not going to take the dye. Too much thinking
Re: Help finding cab material
The black and white is fabric not vinyl made in Italy.
Re: Help finding cab material
That opens up your options, dye or the paint now would seem to be feasable.M Fowler wrote:The black and white is fabric not vinyl made in Italy.
