Newcomer To The Forum - 1st Project

Post by 54 Deluxe »

Hi everyone, I'm new here so I figured I'd introduce myself.
I've been playing guitar since I was a teenager and I've been tinkering around with amps almost as long as I've been playing.
I've been working on my amps since I took an old Gibson 9 to a tech years ago and I wasn't pleased with the results so I figured I could do it myself. I ended up fixing the amp myself and I've been hooked since.
I have been working for a capacitor manufacturer for the past 28 years and have worked in Engineering, Machine Shop and Maintenance. We designed and built a lot of the equipment we use to make our product so I have experience building things.
I've always lusted over a Leslie 16 / Fender Vibratone but have never ran across one so I decided it was time to build my own. Like I said I've worked on and modified my amplifiers over the years but I never built a cabinet. I bought the guts on Ebay and did the rest myself.
Here's the result of my labor of love!

Here's another project from the past. A few years ago I replaced the printed circuit board in my 1990 Marshall Bluesbreaker with a point to point board I made.
I used some phenolic we had in the shop and made the board from it. I wish it was red like the old Marshalls but I'm the only one who has ever seen it so it doesn't matter.
Since I built the Leslie cabinet I'm thinking about making a new cab for this amp made to the proper dimensions.

I need to post the Leslie build my bandmates built (our bass player has a great woodworking shop!), it's a neat take on a Leslie and very well suited (size-wise) for stage use. Looks like yours guts came out of a Wurlitzer too!

By the time I'm done with this project it'll have a built in SE EL84 amp and a set of stereo mics to run to a mixer.
