heater current question

Post by pula58 »

I built a 2x 6L6 + 4 12AX7 circuit (kind of like an AB763 circuit without the normal channel and without the tremelo circuit).

The heater currents would be: 2 * 0.9 + 4 * 0.3 = 3 Amps.

The power tranny is rated to 3.15Amps (Hammond 291 EX) for the 6.3V output. So, I have a margin of 0.15 Amps. Is that enough safety margin? Your opinion requested on this!

I wouldn't hesitate to use that transformer. The Hammonds are usually about 40% over-rated.
