Hey folks, I noticed recently that a lot of the smaller chokes you see at mouser have 4 leads, and their diagrams look like two 'normal' choke diagrams on top of each other. Do you just need to use one side to use it as a standard choke? Can someone clue me in here...

Re: quick choke (inductor) question
These are common ode chokes used on the mains power input, not at all for ripple filtering in HV rectified DC supply.
Why are interested in them?

Re: quick choke (inductor) question
I was reading about R. Aiken's reactive load circuit and got to looking at various inductors on mouser out of curiosity.

Re: quick choke (inductor) question
These could probably work in such application. It is possible to connect the two coils in series but you need to figure out the bifilar winding so that connecting them in series won't result in total cancellation of magnetic flux in the core.
I would just use chokes designed for loudspeaker crossover filters.

Re: quick choke (inductor) question
Thanks Aleksander. That's what I was thinking originally, but the larger one seems very difficult to find. 25mH or 50mH at 4 amps at least.
