Re: Hi all! new member
thanks. as for amps. well marshall, soldano, some peavey, some crate, pretty much any sort of tube amp.David Root wrote:You've come to the right place! Welcome! What kind of amps are you into?
I'm working currently on an amp idea I wish to build. Its sorta secret right now lol. but its taken about 6 days already in photoshop to get to about 75% complete wiring diagram.
I got really tired of buying amps only to be let down or have payed $1000 for an amp with tops $150 in transformers and since I have a lot of electrical experience in my job of restoring cars I thought "what the heck" build one myself.

Re: Hi all! new member
Several years ago I was build ing my first (and only) electric guitar from scratch, see my avatar, when I realized I needed a pair of P-90s. Gibson wanted $100 each.
I knew there was about $3.59 worth of raw materials in each one, and I happened upon a book, "How to Build your own Coil Winder", by a renowned pickup maker, so I bought the book and wound upwards of 300 pickups, sold most of them, before I became besotted with amplifiers, and here I am!
Your instincts are good! Go for it!

its like these companies think the consumer is completely retarded or something. I mean all know the materials cost notta and what you're really paying for is labor. well that went out the window when they started having everything mad by robots or over seas (which is still pretty much robots)
total cost to them $22 your price $200. greed and greed alone.

Good luck on your build
Re: Hi all! new member
i will, being the first it should be a cool challenge but I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron and know how to work of electronics so i won't end up cooking myself or making a mess out of my soldering
