Power transformer shield
I've got a Fender PT with a wire for a "shield". Where do y'all typically connect it for lowest noise? Power supply ground? Earth?
Re: Power transformer shield
Ground the shield with the center taps or main ground as stated.
Re: Power transformer shield
OK, I'll just ground it with the mains. Thanks.

I ground that with the HT CT/heater winding CT/power tubes cathodes.

This is what I would do. Tying stuff to the mains ground is a no-no.David Root wrote:I ground that with the HT CT/heater winding CT/power tubes cathodes.

Pretty sure both of us were referring the main ground of a amp where I ty all the center taps and main filter cap. That is where I ground the shield.
I have a separate ground for the green ground wire USA.

Re: Power transformer shield
Correct name for that shield is "protective screen" and it should connect directly to safety ground.
