Fun Project: Lil Champ In Progress

Post by ToneMerc »

Here's my Champ fun project mocked up for fitment minus the OT transformer and socket holes punched. The intent was to just use stuff I had lying around. The PT is stock and only has enough HT current to support a 6V6, so multi output tube types is out the window. Also, I'm on the fence about using the OT that I have. However, in reality all it's ever going to be is a 4-7W amp anyway and this is just for fun.

Chassis: Watts small box
PT: Heyboer Upright Champ
Choke: Mojo small Fender
OT: Marvel Fender Champ Replacement 5W, 5K-4/8 ohm or TBD
Rectifier: NOS ST RCA 5V4G
Power Tube: NOS ST Zenith 6V6G
Tweaks: Tonestack lift switch, adjustable NFB pot and disconnect switch.

Perfect size chassis for that project, looking good.

I have been thinking about using up some of my odd ball All American 5 tubes going with small hammond 10 x 6 with cage wired PTP.

I picked up an 8-10W 8K OT from Heyboer. I just need to wire up everything now, I'm in the homestretch on this one.

Very nice everyone should have a Champ in their amp line-up.
