Eyelets or rivets?
Can you guys tell if these are eyelets for turret board or rivets for assembling a chassis.. I'm not so sure myself.

Re: Eyelets or rivets?
look like eyelets.... did you measure the dimensions.
most assembly rivets are more rugged, There's a whole world of eyelets for
the shoe and garment industry too.

They look a lot like the eyelets I got from Hoffman.
Although I can't really tell how long they are.
Mine measure .18" in length with my caliper.
Mine are for 1/8" thick board.
Those look like they are tarnished as well.
Probably be best to use some kind of chemical to clean them.
I don't know if vinegar would take it off or not.

A bit of a brush with some sand paper would also do the trick, probably eaiest to do this when the eyelets are installed.Structo wrote:They look a lot like the eyelets I got from Hoffman.

Re: Eyelets or rivets?
These measure .18" diameter, definitely turrets. I'm sure I could get them looking nice in the ultrasonic cleaner, maybe I'll try that soon. Found these laying in the back of the stockroom at school but I can't for the life of me find and suitable turret board and I don't really want to use FR4. Maybe I'll go Dumble style and use wood boards..

Old clip boards work, natural hard fiber, the mechanical and electrical
properties improve with age.

This is a turret board:

FWIW - we use silver dip cleaner for cleaning all sorts of coaxial adapters and stuff....everything conncetorwise that can be dipped and then rinsed and cleaned.
A good dip - and then rinse in warm and then hot water before drying.. works excellent!
( new coaxial adapters are often up to 30-40 $ a piece - some specials even a lot more! )
