2 boards were given to me, one is a complete 2203, and the other is a mystery, pretty close to some sort of marshall... with zoso caps, the works. I Want to throw it in a PV windsor I've had at the shop for a while. What would be the most painless way to achieve this?
I'm thinking I strip all the boards out of it, mount the filter caps, and PTP the tube sockets ans pots and hookup the trannies. Unless a less invasive (read: better/ faster) way exists..

Re: PV Windsor to 2203 conversion
Quick glance : One looks like 5f6a with the shared 820r and 270k//no peaker divider. The Sozo one looks like modded 800, With 820r/.68 first stage, maybe 68k right to pot(instead of 470K//470p), but then the 56K stack again. Drop that 10K 2nd stage down to taste and this amp will rip!

Re: PV Windsor to 2203 conversion
But to your original question, I seriously think it would take less time if you just modded the existing board(s). It's already so close in topology, even w/ the plate driven stack and cathodyne PI. I remember it being a fun project, too, and the boards are relatively easy to work on. There are sites on the internet dedicated to this conversion.

I don't buy into the NOS/expensive parts mojo magic whatever, so thats not a problem.Smokebreak wrote:But to your original question, I seriously think it would take less time if you just modded the existing board(s). I did a bunch of mods to it a looong time ago, I think they were the 12 series plexi mods, but I don't really remember TBH. So next best thing, instead of tracking everything down, was to drop one of those bad boys in. Maybe I'll meet halfway and redo the existing boards with my cool new caps. haha.
