JTM45 RI conversion
Some pics of a friend's PCB Marshall that I converted a while ago to a turretboard amp. Tubedepot OT, Larry grounding scheme. Teflon wire. We tried paper in oil caps first, combined with 6L6 powertubes. We quickly decided to use Mallory 150 caps and Valve Art KT66 tubes. It sounded absolutely freaking great. Outstanding transition from clean to sweet saturation. Then my buddy complained it was too loud...

Thanks!!! I miss that amp. It lives in Europe, far away.... at some point I want to have one too. It rawks, in a very natural way.

I want another combo chassis. These are fun to build on. That looks great. Mine, ehhhh. Sounds good!

Just curious...do you know that your Marshall won't sound better after balancing the PI? I've never done it, so I don't know.Marshalls sound good without all that balanced PI thing stuff!!

Yes I do know. No it doesn't. Seems odd but they like being messy!

+1 for low B+!!! I have the same on my build with a GZ34.

Re: curious
Thanks...well with the PIO caps and 6L6 it was more clean and with clear top end that one would expect from a tweed bassman clone. The changes brought it to marshall territory. Changing the primary Z to 3.4K REALLY did the trick for more aggressive tones with more distortion.lumox0013 wrote:beautiful work classic only better!!! how would you describe the change from oil caps and 6l6s to mallorys and kt66s ,also did you try the 66s with the oils .thanxx
