2204 issh build

I havnt posted any thing on here in a while and I am hangin in the new marshall section alot so heres a rebuild I did recently it used to be a komet kf 60 style amp but I was not so happy with the responce on it so I thought I would rebuild as a 2204.I have built this desighn before and it was so loud that I couldnt stand to be in the same room with it( the new owner loves it. wow)so this time around I tryed to tame the gain a little I dialed some of the pre amp values back to jtm45 specs and used afew mods iheard discused here in the marshall section .the cleaner side on this one is sweeeeeet!! I am much happier with this one than the last one ther is still alot of compression and that singing lead sound if you want it just crank her up!!! other stuff to mention the opt is 6.6k as the original amp was built with a express style output section( if you run a 4ohm laod on thr 8ohm tap your really at 3.3k though) and the b+ is on the lower side at 440v some of the changes I made were-

- elimanating the orij. master and adda larmar-
-100pf pi mixer-
-all .022uf caps-
-v2a cathode dropped to 750-
-moved the slope up to 52k-
-presence pot is old style 5k with a 47k to the 8ohm tap-

also I am looking for a good idea for what to put where the fast gradual switch used to be behind v1 and v2

You might like KT66 after reading the description. I go for dirt and ass end so they don't work out for me, but they sound right up your alley in that rig.

thanxx reel you inspired many of the changes I tryed on this amp I tryed the 6550s as soon as I finshed but the tubes are pretty close together so I thought I would build another on for those the did sound pretty fat though

thanxx mark, I've built several marshalls but this is the first one to strike my fancy so to speak although I still find myself gravitating back to my rocket. I am an avid recycler of everything high voltage that hammond iron is HEAVY DUTY for sure.
