Mini Stack Conversion
The conversion to a mini stack has begun.
I started with the practice cab from my Bassman build. Plenty of good pine there.

That led to this...

Stands up dry fit...that's a good sign considering I cut on the worst table saw ever...my Shopsmith. The Mark V is awesome fro anything but a table saw.

All clamped up...

And, always remember boys and girls. Miller Lite and math don't mix. I drew up my plan while enjoying a few the night before...missed it by "that much". Had to glue in a filler strip on each side so the chassis face (19" wide) would fill the space edge to edge.

Don't forget the old saw, "Measure once, drink twice."

You can find old craftsman table saws on CL for nothing.Good cast iron tops. Those old motors are tanks.I have one from the 50's that I keep a dado blade in still use it almost every day.I keep wondering when the capacitor is gonna fail.

My brother had a ShopSmith.
He called it a nice table but crap saw. LOL....

In theory, theory is the same as practice. In practice it's different.
Re: 50W Plexi, Dual Rectifier, PPIMV Budget Build
I thought before pulling the combo apart to start fitting the head, I would do a bit of recording with the 70 watt Lady Luck. Fumble fingers all over the clean stuff cause unlike math, beer DOES help my guitar playing.
Clean as it will get with a Strat. TMB 12oclock. Tube rectifier.

Nasty as it will get with a 14K humbucker. TMB 12oclock. SS rectifier.

LOL!!
Sounds good and the recording isn't fizzy. A plus if the forum comes under another zombie attack. I was going to post some ipad clips but I think I might wait until a day when everyone's ears are tired and maybe drunk..

More progress.

Vent hopes drilled and rounded over.
With the filler strips added to the side and bottom of the back, the rear panel from the combo is a perfect fit.

Re: 50W Plexi, Dual Rectifier, PPIMV Budget Build
After getting everything fitted and ready for paint, I blacked out one side of the panels and the inside of the cabs.
[IMG
768]http://www.crenshawweb.com/plexi50/mini16.jpg[/img]
Borrowed a little trick from Leo...used screws to keep wet paint up0 off the blanket.
[IMG
768]http://www.crenshawweb.com/plexi50/mini17.jpg[/img]
A shot of everything blacked out and top coated with EM6000 lacquer. One of the perks of being single is I can use the front bathroom, which gets toasty warm for speeding up the dry time.
[IMG
768]http://www.crenshawweb.com/plexi50/mini20.jpg[/img]
I had ordered more corners for the stack and screwed up and bought the ones with recessed screw holes. So...I had to countersink the areas where they sit.
[IMG

[IMG
768]http://www.crenshawweb.com/plexi50/mini22.jpg[/img]
Corners on, feet attached and back panels in place. Instead of cutting the combo cab down and putting a new top on it, I just flipped it over and around and now the cutout for the controls is in back on the bottom...you'd have to really look to see it.
[IMG
768]http://www.crenshawweb.com/plexi50/mini23.jpg[/img]
Original baffle from the combo with a 1.75" filler strip below it.
[IMG
768]http://www.crenshawweb.com/plexi50/mini24.jpg[/img]
Grill and handle on and all buttoned up.

Re: 50W Plexi, Dual Rectifier, PPIMV Budget Build
Same process on the head except I used the original corners...the new ones wrap around into the cab...my little math mistake that I solved with filler strips bit me again. At least I didn't have to countersink for them.

Because of the vents and balance issues, I put the handle on the side of the head opposite the heavy PT.
