I am trying to find an excuse to get rid of my 223 1978 Master Model MKII Lead.
AN iconic amp-certainly, and takes a host of vintage pedals famously.
My motivation is thin wallet syndrome. So much gear I want and cannot afford, so trying to move stuff around/weigh my options.
Now, I already have a Grail Marshall Superlead '72 pt.2 pt. Non Master Volume amp- sounds glorious.
I guess my question would be ; is there anything fundamentally essential about the integration of the design of the 1978 JMP 2230 Master Volume preamp in the 2203?..something that defines the tone and is essential?
OR...
Is the preamp a simple circuit that would be easily added to any amp? Nothing vital about the integration in to the AMplifier section of the 2203?
I sure hope this makes sense.
