Caution- Newb Alert - Transformer Help

Post by bmcash »

Hi Everyone. Just as the title says, I graduated myself from pedal building to amp building. I chose a '67 Marshall plexi style kit from Ceriatone without the transformers and sourced the transformers as a bundle from triodeletronics (ClassicTone). I have the board populated and the hardware installed. Whilst working on the board I began to examine / study the wiring for the transformers. Well, it would have been easier if the wire colors matched, but that's where the fun begins. I have attached a figure of the power transformer and the layout ceriatone has provided. Could anyone please provide help on matching the colors so that I do not place the wrong wires in the wrong place? Any help would be appreciated. For examples, which two wires would be used as the heater wires?

Thanks in advance for any help provided!

Your heater wires are the 6.3v set.
HT wires are the 350v set (yellow center tap).
98v set for bias.
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

Thanks man for the response and the detailed picture! It helps more than you realize. I am in the US, so I will not be using the 220 or 240. What do people typically do with the unused wire taps? Insulate them with heat shrink wrap and fold neatly?

How did you decide which version of the 100w plexi to make?

Slight differences between them, but Nick posted all the various models which is nice.

I did a lot of research on youtube listening to sound clips. I did not wanr a late sixties as they are a little bright; however, it is still on my build list. To me, the 67 us a little more fender like but yet retains some superbass properties as well. Just my take...

The difference is mostly gnarrrr vs burrrrang. Yeah. Technical terms.
