65 Deluxe Reissue PT Wiring
I am trying to wire the PT of my Deluxe Reissue from 240V to 230V.
I currently have it at 240V with black wire going to the Mains (ON/Power) switch. I understand I just need to swap the black cable by the white/black. Just wanted to double check.
Many thanks

That's basically right. For 240v the BLK should be connected to CP2 and WHT/BLK should be connected to CP8. To change to 230v just swap those two wires so that BLK is now connected to CP8 and WHT/BLK is now connected to CP2.
You realize this will increase the voltages throughout the amp. That what you want?

Thank you very much Sluckey. I am in the UK now, but taking the amp to mainland Europe (Switzerland to be precise) and wanted to get it to correct voltage. I thought given the wall will reduce by 10V as well that the voltages throught the amp would be the same?sluckey wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 2:16 pm That's basically right. By the way my CP8 (ie White black in my case) is not connected anywhere now (as per schematic too), so I think I just need to swap black by white/black on CP2?

Bear in mind that it's going to be 'safer' to leave it on 240V, the 230V euro nominal upper tolerance is +10%, 253V I seem to remember. Lower tolerance is -6%, 216V.
Many folk in Europe have advised that their mains can be well over 230V.
Much better to risk losing a little power and running cooler.

Thanks for the reply. I am actually using the Eurovolt (european brown box) to bring my voltages back to spec (ie 240V in the UK). There are days the mains here run at 251V+ so there was no way to have consistency in the sound, specially with tweaking amps every day. Now with Eurovolt I always run it very close to 240V. I am planning on using it there too but at 230V.pdf64 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 4:42 pm Bear in mind that it's going to be 'safer' to leave it on 240V, the 230V euro nominal upper tolerance is +10%, 253V I seem to remember. Re: 65 Deluxe Reissue PT Wiring
You only have to add 4.35% to 230V to be at 240V. Not something I'd be concerned about.

Thanks for the suggestion everyone, I have asked them to measure the wall voltage in Zurich. If it is within 235+ I will keep at 240V. I know holland runs really low, like 223V and if ever going there changing to 230V might be a better option

Second question: Do you guts remove tubes when shipping and amp or travelling with it on an airplane?
I have been removing them on the few occasions I had to...but just curious

Re: 65 Deluxe Reissue PT Wiring
Yeah, I’d remove the tubes and secure them separately in a little padded microphone hard case in my carry-on luggage.
He who dies with the most tubes... wins

Thanks for the feedback. Good tip, I always bubble wrap them but leave the tubes inside the headshell, but taking it in the carry on is a good idea

Re: 65 Deluxe Reissue PT Wiring
Back to voltages and PT topic.
My 25W amp is wired with the 240V PT tap and using the eurovolt (european brown box) to reduce the incoming voltage I have it biased with the reference wall voltage around 236V (as per described above).
I am taking the amp to Switzerland and I've been confirmed that in Zurich wall is around 225V/226V on average. I am thinking of changing the PT tap to 230V and then setting the bias with wall voltage at 226V as leaving it at the 240V I think may not be the best idea but wanted to see what folks here had to say about this approach..
Would you leave PT at 240V and bias at reference wall voltage at 226V or would you swap the PT to 230V?

I'm still not concerned about it.
