Fender Princeton Reverb II
New amp day! Seller is a 91-year-old former TV/radio repairman. He bought this amp new in the 80s, and it has been sitting unused for a decade. Untouched inside, nearly perfect outside. Plays perfectly--near zero hum. Reverb sounds great. Just needed pots cleaned. Speaker is original, but not the blue label Jensen. Too bad. It's Heppner, according to 575 EIA code. No worries--sounds great!
I have a date to shop his shed tomorrow--he's selling everything!

WOW,
I've never seen or heard of this animal?! I'd love to see a schematic, but so far can't find one. Interesting features that make it seem kinda "Boogie-ish" if ya know what I mean.
Cool Find!

@Stevem, the cap can is in great shape. As I mentioned, the amp is remarkably quiet at idle, and also with gain and master dimed--hiss only, no hum.
@Gene, this is one of the "Rivera" era Fenders--last of the "hand wired" stuff from the 80s. It has a circuit board, but all the components are hand placed and soldered. Nice components, too--Sprague orange caps, carbon comp resistors, etc. Schematic attached.

How much $?
Electronic equipment is designed using facts and mathematics, not opinion and dogma.
Re: Fender Princeton Reverb II
Rivera designed Princeton Reverb II, as you say.
Pretty close to a DR II.
These are good amps, nice iron.

Re: Fender Princeton Reverb II
That is actually a pretty cool amp given it's date of manufacturer.
Not sure what they are worth but I'm pretty sure a lot of guys here could build it for much cheaper.
The Brand Name is all that has value.
Think of the things our heirs will receive after our demise.
What the hell is a Trainwreck and why would anybody want one.
What a stupid name for an amp my dad left me, a Dumble.
My dad had these old amps and I threw them out.
One said Fender another Vox, and another said Gibson of some sort.
Or home built amps that are quite valuable but not recognized?
I wonder how many of these gems are sent to the landfill every year?

Sad....

Well, it's all good parts. Plywood cabinet, good chassis with press-embedded nuts (what called?), good components. Would certainly cost more in parts than I paid for it!Structo wrote:That is actually a pretty cool amp given it's date of manufacturer.

PEM nuts. Same company makes PEM studs, which are also press-fit into sheet metal.

I agree, a good clean score. I don't think many could build that amp for under $600 unless it's labeled in crayon.xtian wrote:

Paul was not Einstein, but he was pretty smart guy. I think the Rivera Fenders are maybe preferable to the Rivera Rivera's. Accountants, though, got in the way. Upgrade that speaker and you'll have a real player!
