Combining 5e8a Normal and Bright Voulumes Onto a Single Shaf

Post by ajdroid »

Hello, Tweed Twin Low Power has separate volume controls for the bright and normal channels. Was wondering if I could eliminate a knob buy wiring them both to a dual gang volume pot with a common shaft? Thanks in advance.

You could, but you would have to turn the channels up and down together. A concentric pot would save space and preserve function.

What would be the advantage in eliminating one pot? The cost? If you think you only need one channel then why don't you built it with one channel and save the cost of the pot, resistors, caps, etc.

If you're going thru all of the trouble to built a Tweed Twin, one of the most toneful iconic amps of all time and your spending all that dough to buy transformers & tubes, why not built it like the real deal?
