Princeton Reverb AA1164 w/o Reverb/Trem

Post by jhaas »

I'm building something based on the AA1164 Princeton Reverb, but without reverb or tremolo - only two preamp tubes. I prefer the AA1164 to the non-reverb AA964, so I want to have that extra triode before the PI that the Princeton Reverb has, but the non-reverb does not.

My question, is regarding the 3M3/10pf - 470K voltage divider before that triode. I'm looking for suggestions on lower value resistors to try here. I'm considering 220K||150pF over 150K divider in this spot.

Anyone been down this road before and have some thoughts or advice?

I haven't been down that road but if you want to keep the signal levels equivalent, you would want a 220K||150pf and 33K OR a 1M||30pf and 150K.
What?

Thanks Jana, I have room for a pot, so based on your input, I might try a 220K over a 100KA pot to give some variability.

for your first power supply filter node I would use stacked 100 uf caps if you have the room, that 20 uf stuff just about cuts it in Champs!

Thanks for the input. I agree. I'm doing my own thing here, not staying very faithful to the original, SS rectifier and my PS filter caps will be 47/47/10/10.
