Anyone play around with RN65 plate resistors in non-Dumble amps?
I've got a Blues DeVille in for an input jack and I figure I will do some maintenance for the guy while I've got the boards dropped.

From my experience they work good in pretty much any amp.
Low noise at the voltage levels they see.
RN70s too.

I use the 100k RN65 resistors almost all the time on plates in builds and repairs. They are certainly quieter than old CC resistors. Both the RN65 and PRP are great for amps.
I have a studio client who will get an amp and bring it to me to make quieter. My check list is basically:
1. Shorten grid leads; move components if needed
2. Shielded wire if needed
3. Un-fuggle up ground scheme
4. RN65 on plates
YMMV

I had an old David Allen-built Accomplice (from when they used a Tweed style chassis), the board was populated mostly with RN series resistors with a handful of strategically placed CC's

Simple update -- I used up my supply of the 100Ks on this guy's DeVille and Blues Jr. He's completely jazzed by the improvement.

Sound great as V1 plates in my JTM 45!jaysg wrote:Anyone play around with RN65 plate resistors in non-Dumble amps?
