My dad passed away almost 25 years ago. My ex wife was going through stuff last week and found his old Omega watch...guess it got misplaced when I moved.

I was really happy about it, but felt kind of the same way - I set the time, made sure it was working & stuck it in the drawer I keep watches & stuff in.

Earlier today I noticed I was wearing it. Wasn't a conscious effort.

You'll know when it's time to work on it - because you just will.
