First thought is, that's the way it works. Definitely not as "deep" as optical tremolo.
you can make it very deep - drop the 1M between the plate load and coupling cap of V4a down to 220k - or better yet, 100k. Tube life may suffer but thats some gorgeous tremolo!

wait...so reduce the one meg resistor right before pin 1? the one that connects to the .01,.1,.022 uf caps?

That 1m connects to .022uf and .1uf cap on one end. Other end of 1m resistor connects to a 220K resistor connected to filter cap from what I can see.

Yes goes to pin 1 PI.
