Fender Harvard (SS)

Post by harv1944 »

I Have a 70 s Fender Harvard solid state amp. I'm thinking of gutting it and rebuilding with a fender tube equivalent. Any reason not to? I dont think it has any particular value as is. Any suggestions?

You don't need anyone's permission to do that and it sounds like this might be your first build so I would suggest something like the Mojotone complete parts kit to build a Champ and then get the punches needed fot the tube socket holes.

I have a friend with one of these, and I wasn't able to find a schematic of it on the internet, but I did find one in Aspen Pitman's Tube Amp Book. So I want to attach that just so it's on the internet somewhere.

The part that looks kind of interesting to me is that it's a completely transistor circuit, but the preamp will look really familiar to anyone who's familiar with preamps made out of tube triodes. No op amps involved at all. So it has the potential to sound better than the average modern solid state amp, but I haven't heard it. Neither me nor my friend have made it a priority to get his back in working condition again.
