BF Bandmaster more sag possible?

I have a 1965 BF Bandmaster (AB763) and I would like it to have more sag. Is that possible without extensive surgery and replacement of parts?

You can put a 100Ω or 250Ω resistor between the rectifier diodes and the STBY switch to introduce some sag. Use a 10 watt resistor. An easy way to do this is just tack solder the resistor across the STBY switch. This will allow you to get an idea about how much sag you have. When the switch is open, you'll have sag. Flip the switch on for no sag. You can safely do this on the fly.

If you like the sound and want the option of standby, sag, and full power, you may consider replacing the Fender STBY switch with a double pole three position (progressive) switch. Look at the Standby Plus! mod on page one of this pdf...

By using a 10 watt resistor you mean as a start and work up to 100Ω or 250Ω?

If I may speak for Steve... he means use a 10w resistor, whether you choose 100R, 250R or any other resistance. Wattage is not resistance.

I mean use a 10 watt resistor so it won't burn up. 100Ω/10W and 250Ω/10W are very common and cheap.

Talking about adding power supply resistance to attain more sag without first knowing if the amps output stage is biased cold or hot is very much putting the Cart before the Horse!

You would loose some output wattage but you could convert the amp to cathode bias output stage and get closer to the feel of a amp that used a rectifier tube.
