Before I get it back together as it is and bring it up to probe that bias supply let's examine reasons why someone might do that.

1. Bias winding is dead.

2. Possibly with the parts they has on hand they couldn't get enough voltage on the supply? No? Yes? It looks like backyard math buit that string.

There is nothing connected to the submarine grey wire we expect to be red/blue. Hrmm. It looks like it got hot lots of times. It's in a freaking California convection oven.

Power up with no tubes in and get some voltages.

The point I never made about it was it has 6L6 instead of the 5881s and the wonderment is about having to look for more neg voltage.

I am going to rebuild it as it is supposed to be and look for sparks.
