Tweed Harvard Project - speaker choice

Post by ginner57 »

I am finishing a Tweed Harvard project. Placed an original chassis in a replacement cab. A couple of questions for the group. The relic tweed effect? thumbs up or down? Secondly, what speaker should I use? Reissue jensen p10Q ? Weber 10 '? Any opinions ?

Thanks.

For my clone project I chose an Eminence Legend 1058.

If you want the amp tp sound big and your pockets are full enough, get a Eminence 10" rad fang.
If you want the amp to be louder than stock but still have some of its outpute stage power used up thru a smaller SPL rated driver, than get the Jensen, or the Weber.
The Weber would be my first choise in that pair!

I have a 1960 Harvard that I got in the original cab that was cut off into a head. I had a cab built and put a Weber 10A125. Couldn't be happier, but I wanted an original sound. This is my favorite tweed amp. It gets the tweed tone, but doesn't over compress like a Deluxe or Tremolux. I put a Klon in front of mine and its very sweet for blues or rock.
