When you do rewire a channel to tweed spec, keep in mind that the added gain will surely clip the reverb driver amongst other things
You might need to keep the gain somewhat near the blackface channel to keep the back end of the amp happy

Re: Show off my new rebuild
Hmm.. that hadn't occurred to me. I have found several discrepancies in this book. As in my dog eared paperback of the first edition from 25 years ago, it seems editing was not very thorough.

Looks fantastic. I'm curious how you think it sounds in comparison to the DRRI original circuitry.

Quite a bit better. As a DRRI, I had to be careful of the treble control, and was sometimes told I was too loud on stage with the volume on 4 and the treble on 3. "Too loud" means different things to different people. Now I can run the treble up to about 6-7 and there is no ice pick at all. The tone is warm and rich, and more 3 -D. It wasn't a bad sounding amp as a RI, but it's a great sounding amp now. I loaned it for a gig to a guitar slinger friend who also owns a RI, and he agreed it was hands down a much sweeter sounding amp than his.Mitch Roberts wrote:Looks fantastic. After loaning it to another friend, I will be starting to do the same to his Vibrolux RI pretty soon.
