Great playing. Big minus was the acoustics of the venue. Too reverby space.
Robben had Sakashta + tele with twin and super reverb + zendrive for overdrive. Sound was way too shrill. Not at all dumble like.
Larry had 335 and if I'm right a Bludotone. Just one head. The logo text was covered with black masking tape I wonder why Larrys sound was much fuller and very good indeed.
Photographing was not allowed so I respected that and did not take any pictures...
I saw them in Turku tonight. Great playing too. Good PA sound.
Same gear and Robben's sound wasn't that good. (Playing was!!) Did you see what Larry had in his pedal board and in his rack.
That Bludotone sounded Great! Maybe it is the higher voltages, but that sound was "woody?!" both clean and overdriven!
Hi ukulele !
It surely was great to finally see Larry alive ! What an gentleman. It was 5th time for me to see Robben.
I did not see Larrys pedals or rig closely enough to tell what he had in there. Robben had volume, wah and ZD.
Glad You had good sound ! At Helsinki the sound improved to the end of the show.
I think robben used the coil tap switch of his guitar quite a lot. The sound was over tight with the Fenders.
Btw. What do You mean with the 'higher voltages' of the Bludo ? Yes the sound was kind of 'woody', really great sound. I hoped the sound would be a bit more defined. It was the venue that messed that up.
Btw2. What was the ballad that larry played alone (if he played it at Turku also)? Really beautiful ! The melody still haunts in my head

Only one Robben's solo had good overdrive sound and then he did something to amps settings and shrill and too tight again??

Somebody said somewhere that it has that Music Man style power supply, but not sure about that. Maybe Brandon will tell what's inside there... or not.
Don't know the name of that ballad, but it was nice. Did Larry play some new jazz kind of song in Helsinki too. That was really great!! Especially the solo!!
Could be that Robben has high freq hearing loss and turns up the treble on his amps to compensate.
Also we all know what you hear on stage if the spkr cab is on the floor is not what the audience hears especially if they are ear leve with the sound beam.

Yeah, the first two songs Robben had best tone on them. IMO his best playing was also on the beginning of the show.

Oh, ok! .. hm.. interesting

Yes, Larry played the jazzy song also at Helsinki. Lots of sliding octave stuff in there

Well good for you...
No I wasn't at Puistoblues in 2001. Also when Robben Ford was last time in Finland 1999 at the Pori Jazz it might have been that I didn't even know who he is... and it was K18 so not for me back then...

So whats the deal with the no pics thing anyway... Robben played a gig in Wisconsin in the summer and they made a HUGE deal of the no pic thing, and he played the whole gig turned sideways or with his back to the crowd, and really, kinda made an ass of himself... which SUPER dissapointed me, I've been a huge Ford fan for a long time. By the end of it, the crowd was a little bit put-out by the whole thing, and I don't really blame them.
It's a real drag to pay some fairly significant bucks to go see somebody you really like play just to have some knob get onstage and preach how nobody can take pics and be a real tool about it. It was really quite insulting.
I sure won't make any effort to see one of his shows again, and the promoter has gone on record as stating he won't be asked back again.
