On the Texas Gulf Coast!

Post by Buschman »

There is nothing quite like staring down a storm that fills 3/4 of the Gulf of Mexico 2 weeks in a row. No evacucation this time. No money and no patience for a 20 hour 200 mile trip to Austin. Will probably playing the acoustic for a while after Saturday. There is no stress quite like it. We tend to have a party and drink!

Well hang in there Buschman and stock up on the beer. Would that be Lone Star?

I'm just south of Houston and about 30 miles due west of Galveston Bay. We won't be seeing any problems from storm surge flooding, but it could get real interesting here depending on where Ike decides to make landfall. We're not going anywhere and have been making preparations the last couple of days. Should be a fun night!:?

Call me crazy (and you wouldn't be far off! ) but I'd be out surfing or parasailing.

It sure beats bein' stuck in traffic and getin' beat up anyway.

It's like that Ron White joke. (Hey! He's from Texas!) "It's not that the wind is blowin'. It's what the wind is blowin! It don't matter how good shape you're in if you get hit by a Volvo or you got a stop sign stickin' outta yer spleen! (I'm pretty sure that's the quote.)

I was in the Big Scary Hurricane in New York in the '80s. It turned out to be a misser but everyone got out anyway. Me, I went in to work. Turned out we were the only studio open in the whole damn town so I kept pretty busy. The worst part was I had to walk home, just hundreds of blocks 'cuz no public transportation was running. Everything was shut down, boarded up and eerily quiet.

Yeah, I wuz just watchin' CNN. The waves break over the seawall in Galveston. That seawall would kick my ass when I got there. It looks like there's a lot of large driftwood in the surf. That's gotta hurt!

If your power is still on rent "A Fish Called Wanda". Jamie Lee Curtis?! You betcha I'd hit it! Even now that she's gone grey and does yogurt commercials. My favorite "Fish" quote: "Don't call me stupid!"

Kevin Kline:

Every bit as funny as "A fish". Starts with a confessional scene that ranks as my all time favorite 4-5 minute clip in movies.

time to write a good song...hit the charts...

It could be worse i suppose...

Some brokers in Manhattan are faced with selling their Lester's collections or jumping off the window...while the Chinese, Arabs and European investors are buying America Inc. on 2-cents-to-tha-dolla.

It's not that simple. If foreign capital was there to prop up the markets it wouldn't have gone down as far and as fast as it did. Sellers outnumber buyers. Supply and demand, price goes down. Buyin' in at 2 cents (tempting!) ain't worth squat if the goin' rate at the end of the day is $.01.

It's friggin' stupid anyway. Pass the money hand to hand, a little bit of money moving very fast can fool the naked eye. It's just a green flash, is that roll Benny Franklins or Georgie Washingtons? Wrap the roll in a Franklin to impress the suckers, it's an old trick.

When genuine Mullards drop to ten bucks each I'm buyin'!

Don't quote me wrong pardner...

Foreign capital don't prop up the market...they buy corporation that are bankrupt...

The proping up is done with tax money...

The Chinese, Arabs and Germans own most of America...

The President is still American made but...
