Yeah just heard it as well, came here to post the same. I recall my younger days hearing his playing and being so stoked...

I am bummed for sure :(

Only 65! So young! So much life to live still!
The changes he made to Marshall amps was repeated by countless others! These changes also created endless Forum topics on many sites!

You can delete my double post if you like Phil, in the Garage section.

Very sad news.

Everyone drew the mighty =VH= logo on their grocery bag textbook covers in junior and high school. Hot For Teacher on MTV (back when it was about music) and blaring from Trans Ams in the stoner parking lot. Truly rich days. Dude was a true innovator. I was lucky enough to get to see him. Really at a loss for words...

RIP \m/ :(

I moved the original topic from 'dumble discussion' to 'garage talk' and merged the newer topic here

Just to keep things a bit more neat.

Still saddened by his passing :(

Terrible. I feel fortunate I got to see Van Halen a couple of times.

What an experience it was to buy their first album, take it back to the dorm, and crank it up. No kidding, I bought it because of the album cover; never heard a cut on it before. I thought there was pure slash & burn rock & roll inside. I was not disappointed. Within minutes everybody on my hall came down to my room to hear it. Rock & Roll Extravaganza in a world of disco. 8)

Seldom have I run across both a genius player and tech.

RIP Eddie. :(

Just came across this today... lets you really see his skill at the guitar...

His style was never my favorite guitar playing, but I can still clearly see how amazingly talented, fast and adept he was with his guitar.

Went to this concert at the Forum in 1984 with David Lee's sister and my brother and sister. For a 20 year old guitar player I was in heaven and the girls were...

So I didn't realize that EVH was a dumble player. My apologies. I can move it back to Dumble Discussion if that's more appropriate
