I want to get an inexpensive (but not cheap!) desoldering pump/vacuum, like this one:

In the end, I decided on a standalone desoldering pump:

$109 shipped. Lovely! Really does the job. Components just fall out of the PCB. Recommended.
Although, it is a bit harder to work when there's a big meatloaf in the middle of your desoldering workspace...
