solder iron for hard times

Post by Andy Le Blanc »

I resorted to rigging this "odjet d'art" to keep at it off grid thru these, and the hard times comin'. Most fabrication can continue with intermittent power or hand tools but dressing a circuit requires an iron or course, and a bit more electrical demand than a solar/battery rig can provide. And,... it's a good thing to work when you can even after the sun goes down. Bottled propane is cheap, portable and practical.

Nice! I actually have a bernz-o-matic soldering iron that works passably well with butane.

Now all we have to do is find a way to power amplifiers with a propane bottle.

The 3500W is considerably less expensive, at the moment, than the 1400W. Hurry while they still have them.

One that was 350W, designed specifically to vent outside, and weighing less than 5kg would be ideal. Never nevertheless ...
