ADDED CLIPS BELOW
Customer wanted a clean amp to record with, but wanted enough power to gig clubs with.
I built him this 35 Watt combo.
6L6 pair fixed bias, no feedback, 6SL7 P.I., 5879 in hot channel, 6SL7 preamp, 12AX7 tone recovery 12DW7 effects loop,

Weber 12" California (JBL K120 clone).
Gain all up, dead quiet. Scary dynamic range!

Like the look of that, and guessing most certainly the sounds of it too.

Here's a quick phone recording, the amp was LOUD AF. The phones compressor killed the dynamics and make it sound small, but it was so loud in my shop, I didn't want to play more. As usual excuse my playing. When the apocalypse is over, and the amp goes to Atl., I'll get a sample of a pro playing it.

IMO, 35W is enough to make the glass windows rattle. Sounds real nice. Your guitar playing is respectable, too. Not everyone is a pro.

Thanks for the kind words Phil. I need the pro audio clip, with a good mic and preamp (and player) to really show what this amp can do. I get 29W rms but man, it sounds like much more with that Weber Cali 12.

I love the tube choices. Nice amp. You can still hear the punch even through the compression.

What type of phase inverter did you use?

I settled on a 6SL7 ( '50's RCA) for the P.I.
I really like the octal tubes. I changed the pre to a 6SN7.

Sorry Dorrisant, re reading this, it appears you meant the topology, not the tube. The P.I. is a long tailed pair, no feedback, one input from the pre, and one from the fx loop.

I thought the same thing. That amp sounds very punchy.

I love that footswitch. Reminds me of a wedge of chocolate cake I should be eating!
