I need a suggestion & Schematic for a small reverb combo

Post by RJ Guitars »

Hello All,

I have a donor chassis and cabinet with a good reverb pan in it. Does anyone have a suggestion and a schematic available for a very basic tube amp with reverb?

I want the simplest circuit and a relatively low power amp... could even be a single ended power section.

This one is single-ended:

I'm guessing you could simply leave out the tremelo circuit quite easily.

Or this legendary amp:

hope this helps!

Thank you Jimi... These are two great specimens.

Do you recall if there are any artists that might have used either of these amps on a recording I could get a hold of?

I like the simplicity!

That's a tough question. I'm sure we've all heard many recordings that used the Gibson, but wouldn't have known it. Old blues and R&B records come to mind. As for the Valco, I wouldn't know at all. It was probably a cheaper amp that was marketed to the hobbyist back in the day. Who knows, though; it may have been used here and there as a studio amp by some of the big guys. I'll tell ya, I'm really interested in building that Valco just because. Of course, I still need to get my Express finished, as well as a Firefly-inspired amp for a friend of mine, as well as the z28 of which Steve Liberty helped me acquire the info I needed, and probably another project or two waiting in the wings. But dang! a single-ended amp with real(read:not foldback) reverb is quite appealing to me 8)
