Damn dude surely there is something we can do to help . I'm not in a position to do much right now but maybe all of us can get something together to help out.

Matt - that's a lot to digest and I'm sorry for your predicament. It sounds like a living hell. Discrimination is never a good thing for anyone. At the same time, I would have to admit that I would carefully consider entering into an employer/employee relationship with you. Not trying to be harsh. Just honest. You seem like a very intelligent and personable guy, but facts are facts and can't just be ignored. Employers have a responsibility to their other employees as well. I am saying all this so that you might consider it from the other side, although I am guessing that you have. I suspect that you will have to make an extra effort to meet with prospective employers face-to-face in order to dispel the preconceptions that others may have based on your past situation. Face-to-face meetings provide a unique opportunity. I am certainly not trying to judge either way and I suspect that many others will not either. I think you have to keep the faith and keep up the effort. Something good will happen for you, I am sure.
It seems this was about a girl? There must be a lesson here of some kind. Perhaps spreading the word might allow you to help others and bring some good karma?
I wish you all the best. Stay positive.

Really sorry to hear about this terrible bullshit, Matt. Your generosity and intelligence are greatly valued here, and I'm sure they will serve you well IRL.

Matt..
Life has not been the TV kind of lucky for you. You are a good guy. The kond of help you provide around here says much about your willingness to give.
Thanks. Thanks for all that.
My life changed January 6th of 2007 when I was followed home by a gang and robbed in my driveway. I have been inside the house except for maybe 1 month since then if you added all the hours of buying groceries and the amp show I attended in Nashville and my brother's wedding. I want to move away but I will never risk contact woth unwanted people, cops, thugs, lovers, haters...
Everyone.
It's not the same for us, obviously. It is though.
I don't know what to say. You are a good guy.

My thoughts are with you, what a horrible situation and I hope a solution can be found.
I wish I knew a solution, I don't. It sounds to me the only way to put this to bed would be to hit it head on somehow,,, take your side public.
Your an intelligent well spoken individual- write a book? blog? create some noise so you gain help. While the media loves to vilify someone,,, they know the public will eat up a story like this. I hope things look up for you soon.

Maybe a movie script?… You might have to embellish it to make it dramatically compelling.Regan wrote:My thoughts are with you, what a horrible situation and I hope a solution can be found.

It sounds as if the people who conspired and attacked you are still living. Seems that someone must have died for a murder charge.
I hope you catch a break, it sounds like you're due. What kind of work did you do before your life was turned up side down?

The ACLU always lived for this kind of action. A police officer violates the civil rights of a citizen by committing perjury!brewdude wrote:Maybe a movie script?… You might have to embellish it to make it dramatically compelling.Regan wrote:My thoughts are with you, what a horrible situation and I hope a solution can be found.

Hi Matt, I am so sorry to hear of your plight. For what it's worth, I have no trouble believing you acted in self defense.

Our legal system is crazily effed up. I don't trust any of them, especially cops. When you consider it is such a dangerous job, it doesn't take long to come to the conclusion that smart people aren't going to choose law enforcement. Most of these guys are hyped-up, type-A personalities who feed on power and authority. And it's a short jaunt from there to corruption.
I wish you the best. I have enjoyed (and learned from) reading your posts, and I hope it is your intention to continue your excellent participation in this forum.
Cheers,
Lou
I was thinking the same thing. I don't understand how they could have brought you up on murder charges if the plaintiff survived. Attempted murder? Yes. But murder? No. Well, unless you went back and offed the psycho-ex and forgot to mention that in your initial post!brewdude wrote:It sounds as if the people who conspired and attacked you are still living. There is no doubt in my mind you've been through something so awful I can't comprehend it. The consequences have left you in a bad place, a really bad place. My heart goes out to you.
With what little resources you have left, I suggest you do what you can to mitigate the problems that are coming at you. (Apologies for stating the obvious.) You may have to do some things you don't want to do and that may be unpleasant. I don't know exactly where you are, but there are many public programs that provide services to homeless people and this includes people who are about to be homeless. It sounds like you might qualify for some prevention assistance. You won't know unless you ask. Most of the organizations that do this work are non-profit, with government funding. The good news is that you don't have to deal directly with the government. The bad news is that the resources available are insufficient for all the demand. I think you can get some help with eviction prevention and with employment -- maybe not the kind of employment you'd like to have, but you have skills and education, which may get you something that's more than sweeping up at the supermarket.
(I have first-hand knowledge of homeless services, as I have a client organization that does this work. I want to emphasize they offer preventive services to keep people from being homeless and they help with employment for people who have impediments to finding a job.)
Remember, every journey starts with the first step and moves forward one step at a time. You can do this, and you will.

If you have the means I would move. Its kinda late now but most Midwest and southern states actually believe in self defense. In fact they usually put cases of self-defense on the news in a positive light around here
