Anvil shooting

Post by Zippy »

This is new to me, but I love the idea.

I'm already thinking about how to make this a competitive event (height, accuracy, etc.) - maybe it is and I just don't know about it.

Yeah I posted about this before.

It didn't get much traction but I had watched it on TV and it looked like fun.

Just keep your eye on the anvil. :D

Sorry I missed that.

I was waiting for the anvil to land on that guy's pickup truck.

I guess it really doesn't matter whether you wear steel-toed shoes and a helmet.

A friend of mine did this and sent a two hundred pound anvil through the roof of a farm shop.
I bought a pair of shoes from a drug dealer the other day. I dunno what he laced them with but I’ve been tripping all day,

That looks like fun.
Those anvils are expensive puppies. I wonder what you could use instead ?

The Tennessee Valley Fiddlers Convention in Athens Al. has been kicked off with an anvil shoot for decades. I always enjoyed that!

Yes, I believe that is down in Mexico where young men take a sledgehammer and smack down on explosive material.

Supposedly it shows how much macho mojo they have.

I saw one guy that hit it then the hammer got kicked back and hit him. :D

The guy with the loudest bang that is still standing gets some type of prize.

There is a single frame of one of those videos that would make a great tshirt. The guy is blown 4 feet off the ground with the hammer in both hands way too high above his head. BOOM

Idiot!!

Hmm in order to make it a compitetion after the anvil blasts off you pull a pistol and see how many times you can shoot it. Or a bow and arrow if your real badass

Ooooh, I'm liking that.

A real badass would stand underneath it, and shoot a black powder muzzle loader.

Me, I'm no bad ass, nor can I run very fast, so I'm not a good candidate for the sport.

Is there some way we could go fishing with anvils?

Why do I feel like a sacrificial anode???

Just like when my "friends" take me on hikes. "When it comes to running from bears, you only have to be faster than the slowest person." Great...

The good news is that anvils are pretty dumb and not so selective.

It'd be interesting to see if anvils have a sense of humor. Park some trucks and cars nearby, and see if they fall in a truly random pattern or if they prefer trashing the good stuff.
