I am too old to move

Post by Ken Moon »

Well, I finally got set up here in Colorado. It's not easy sorting through 40 years of stuff, and moving the keepers across the country!

I wrecked my car into a city bus while looking at the scenery, and it's still in the shop :(

The upside is my son has been taking me to some nice places on the weekends for picnic lunches:

Beautiful photos Ken! Lots to like in Colorado. I was surprised to hear Joe Cocker now calls Colorado home too. And John Oates has been up in Woody Creek for many years now. He's big on skiing, between Phunk Shui and H&O tours he reviews equipment & resorts for ski magazines. What a great life.

What town are you in? Or near.

We bought a house in Thornton, which is about 15 miles north of downtown. It's in a nice residential suburb of homes built in the '70s and '80s, and is in walking distance to a light rail station they're building, which is scheduled to open in a couple of years.

The housing is quite a bit more expensive here than in Jacksonville, so we're going to take our time, like 3 or 4 years, looking for something a bit closer to the mountains, hopefully in the Loveland, Boulder, or Evergreen, or possibly Colorado Springs area.

As far as the herbs, it's nice to know you can partake of nature's bounty without worrying about being thrown in a cage :D

Beautiful pictures! Visited last summer. And yes, it felt very strange crossing that state border into Colorado...after spending a lot of my teen years tokin' and worried about getting busted. My only vice nowadays is Guinness. The strange part was, as I crossed the border into Colorado, straight as an arrow, I became paranoid...!

Took my cynical, goofball teenage son (see avatar) gold panning near Durango. He was shocked to find a nice little nugget! Still cynical, though...

Let me know if you visit Durango Ken, we can get together for a beer.

Yes, I still haven't had the guts to walk into one of the new "recreational bud shops" yet. It's weird to see the signs and banners on all the new shops (none open in Durango yet, but soon will be).

Even though it's legal now, I think my kids would freak out if ole Dad came home with a bag of bud.
Don't you boys know any NICE songs?

Ken,

I've lived in Colorado Springs for quite a long time now. Let me know if you want to discuss the area or if you ever down this way.
