New extra-safe wire for heaters.

It's hard to bend, but once bent it stays in place:

Made my eyes bug out. For your next trick, tell me how much it costs per foot!

That looks like some of that hi-fi mumbo-jumbo bullshit!
If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

It's a cross section of an undersea cable to deliver power from windmills. Pretty rad.

I want to make speaker cables out of it.

How much radius do you need for a 90 degree bend?

There's some company that wants to sink some of these "extension cords" in the Hudson River so they can send juice from Canada to NYC. Wait 'til they see what some determined copper thieves can do, and we got 'em around here for sure.

In even more recent news there's a move on to put a pipeline in from Albany NY to the refineries in Linden NJ. (Albany expects to be the end of the line for rail cars full of tasty Alberta tar sand crude oil.) They'll be using a lot of that power just to keep Alberta tar crude hot enough to flow. Oh boy what a future we're gonna have.

NickC, I'll quote Red Sovine: "Give me forty acres and I'll turn this rig around."

I agree on the speaker cable, but only if the copper ore is smelted by left-handed tightrope walkers who speak an extinct language- backwards. Hey, anyone smell a wine cork?

As far as the future energy, if I get a few spare minutes, I intend to solve cold fusion, and room temperature superconductivity. And then learn how to make ice cream.

I'm thinkin' that's steel, to try & prevent the cable from getting punctured. Also note there's what looks like an extra small diameter copper cable between 2 of the big ones. Wonder what that's for?

Indeedy, the spools must be considerably large.

The steel wrapper may be to relieve strain on the conductors. The linear stresses from just the weight of those cables must be quite high during "installation".

Very cool image. Thanks for sharing that.

I wonder if the fourth conductor is a diagnostic.

I was going to say it's there to police the other 3...or for communications of some sort.
