Energy amplifiers

Post by pamaz67 »

Hello all.
Surfing the net I found these pictures of this amplifier.

http://www.amparchives.com/album/Energy ... 14f_3.html
Anybody knows who makes these amps and if somewhere there is a website related to this guy/company?

Thanks

Paolo

Pretty amps but I for one don't think have all those right angle bends is necessary or the quietest method of wiring an amp.

But it sure looks good.

My favorite "right angle guy" is Bruce Clement of BC Audio:

I call that Etch-A-Sketch wiring.

I've always liked thst obsessive look.

this type of build is a service dream.......it's the 'willy-nilly spaghetti' wiring (yes, Fenders and Marshalls too) that drives me nuts
maybe I have OCD....

I'd rather wrestle with the easter basket grass where the burned resistor is always the one on top!

I don't know whether to admire or have concern for that level of compulsion.

It is pretty.

It looks great if you want to maximize capacitive coupling.

Do you mean "inductive" coupling?

while the bc amps look really like works of art, the energy seems that are employing only film caps also in the supply. Having done that a few times, I can say it's a major factor ( for my personal taste) in obtaining a superior performance, especially for what is related to the "pick response" of the amp.
That's why i like that energy so much and I'm trying to get further infos.

How do you know what kind of caps they are using?

This is also a lesson in how NOT to choose a name for a product. A web search on "Energy guitar amplifier" yields too many hits on everything but guitar amplifiers made under the name "Energy" - might as well name the company "Guitar Amplifier." :?

From the photo the supply caps of the first stage in the Energy appear to be Solen. The caps for the power stage are blue electrolytic can caps
