Miles
Hey Miles, I've been trying to reply to your PM but I get the debug mode. So, I will post the reply here for the world to see.
Miles,
Sorry it took me so long to respond. I got your message, took a couple of pain killers, and promptly forgot to reply.
It's been five weeks of pain for me. It all started out when before I was born--I forgot to uncheck the box, "Wisdom Teeth" prior to incarnation. Silly me, I figured the wisdom teeth had something to do with being smart. Obviously, someone really needs to review the "Incarnation Contract" and specify just what all this optional equipment is for.
So, fast forward 56 years and one of the wisdom teeth is impacted and pushing against the back molar--a tooth that I actually use--and is giving me extreme pain. It got worse as the days went on and eventually got to the point of me having to go to the emergency room to get a shot in the ass for pain.
I finally got in to get the teeth chiseled out of my jaw. I think they used a floor jack to spread my jaw open and then made the incision with a rusty pocket knife. They had to carve away some bone to get the teeth out so I am assuming, based on the pain afterwards, that they used a dull chisel and a ball peen hammer. Either that or an impact hammer. Then they stitched it all up with some left over baler twine and stuffed a couple of old cotton socks in my mouth and sent me on my way.
They said, because I am old and the teeth were really in there, I might have some pain for a few weeks. Well, it has been four weeks now and I am finally able to get through the day with only ibuprofen for pain medication.
So, yeah, it has been more fun than making love in a cactus patch.
How's the vertigo? Still flying a helicopter without a tail rotor?

Re: Miles
Well I'm not Miles but I kinda know what you mean. When I was 17 I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed at one sitting. The anesthesia was great for the procedure but the real nightmares started with the sleepless nights because of the pain. The days came with their own horror, mouth full of gauze and spitting blood every twenty minutes. I was limited to one pill for the pain of what was prescribed because two would lead to vomitus. Those were some of the worst days and nights of my life. Luckily, time is pretty good at healing our wounds.
Feel better.

Sorry to hear about another TAG'er having health issues, Jana, but at least it seems to be going in the right direction for you now. I had all of mine taken out as a teenager, and it was no fun. Hope you are back to 100% soon!

Re: Miles
Sorry to hear you had to go through that. I had mine out when I was a teen. That's when I learned I'm allergic to codeine.

Re: Miles
They whacked me on something brown and clear with an IV and I counted backwards from 100,000.. 99,999.. I was so wasted they took me out the back when it was over.
I was aware of about half of the surgery but I was not supposed to be. It's that thing they say like 25% of people are aware but.. anyhow.
It seems I swallowed a little bit of blood. That was unfortunate. You can turn any room into a zombie habitat without warning.
Yikes.
Feel better!

Thanks everybody.
It's four weeks out now and the pain is manageable with moderate doses of ibuprofen. At the rate I'm going, I figure about another week, maybe two, and I will be mostly normal (hahahahahaha, like that will ever happen).

Hope yall get to feelin better real soon.
I had my upper wisdoms pulled when I was in my 20's.Wasn't pleasent but it wasn't that bad.The doc sent me home with some Pain killers I didn't even take them.
I was supposed to have the lower ones pulled last year.I got through one.The deneist had his knee on my chest prying and wiggling for about 20 mins Had to take a break cause he was startin to sweat.Sent me home with some weak ass Vikidon that didn't even touch the pain.I called and bitched till they gave me some percoset.I still have my other one.Its not going anywhere Till it starts causin problems.

Re: Miles
I feel your pain.... my lower wisdom teeth grew forward(not UP), and had to be removed piece by piece(no general). But I think I am lucky.....my oldest sister has had 8 wisdom teeth removed, so far!
Hope you stop feeling like Jobe soon!

Hope you guys are feeling better.
When I was around 20 I had my wisdom teeth removed.
They hadn't really come in yet so he just dug in there and cut/ chiseled them out and stitched me up.
About four months later I started having more pain.
I went back in and he said I had a fifth wisdom tooth trying to come in.
WTF?
He said it wasn't that uncommon to have another under the first one.
So I guess this means I'm extra wise or somethin.
