Excellent work! Delta destroyed two of my vintage guitars in the 80s. A '57 Custom and a '61 SG Les Paul and also took out one of the first Dean Z models made in his garage. Best guitar ever.

UPS has destroyed at least 5x as many, with the most notable being a custom colored '67 V with matching headstock, and next a '55 blonde Switchmaster not to mention a couple early D-28s and a J-200.

If you give a shit about anything, never ship it out of your sight, ever. Ever.

I have seen lots of people carry guitars onboard the plane with them.

Many times the flight attendants will allow you to store them in the galley or other space that is available.

It's a real shame to see a vintage anything destroyed by the airlines or shipping companies.

They used to let me hang a guiitar like a coat in the closet. No more. They take it at the door of the plane if you made it that far and then it gets rolled on your connection. POW! They never make it that far anyhow.

You are allowed to fly with guitars I do it all the time. Delta, northwest, Alaska, united, frontier, American Airlines. The traveler was an idiot for letting them check it.
Even if the guitar had not been damaged the drastic climate change would most likely destroy the intonation for months if not permanently.

Note a '65 gibson es335 is currently worth $2500-$4300, $6200 if its a custom color but it's no $10k guitar.

Is a 65 335 a 10k guitar? No. Yes. Nope. They aren't. They sell for around 12k in custom colors for real now. Why was that one in a brown case..

This is right thinking here. I can't remember for sure but the holy grail on the ES-335 ends I think in '62? Somewhere in there Gibson quit using hide glues and made a couple of other changes to the 335. I don't know about $2500 but certainly not $10K.

You know who is buying them for 10k? Same guy that buys a brand new 9k Les Paul and he thinks he is getting a great deal... hah same guy that buys an $8500 triolian.

Early 60 no more dots, mid 62 no more.. "mojo".. and PAF sticker only in front.. "mojo". Before mid 62 all the pickups had long wires. When they got patent number decals they had a sheep dip of nickle covered PAFs. They saved 6 inches of wire on every guitar by using # pickups in the bridge position and PAFs up front.

I wonder how long it takes Gibson to find this fact and reissue a shitload of '63 model guitars with different stickers on each end?
