Help with a real mystery.

Post by LeftyStrat »

Most Hendrix fans know that Jimi is buried in a cemetery in Renton, WA, south of Seattle. I've visited it several times.

Mitch Mitchell, died in 2008 in Portland, OR, and is supposed to be buried in Seattle, but I've never found any info about where his gravesite is.

Google has not helped on this, so I'm resorting to asking if anyone here might have any info.

I'll post pics if I find it.

I always felt Mitch's style of play was perfectly complimentary to Jimi. I don't think any other drummer could have come up with things like he did in Manic Depression (3/4 waltz), or the laid back use of brushes on Up from the Skies or countless other songs where his playing emphasized what Jimi was doing.

And "If Six was Nine."

Mitch ised to hang around here quite a bit. I will ask his daughter next time I see her.

He looked the same as he ever did, just a few days older. What a nice guy too.

I would research where Mitch was born and raised, perhaps they sent his remains home.

RIP Mitch.

It seems like they would have sent him home to the UK where his wife and mother were at the time. Maybe a search of UK death notices?

RIP.

According to news reports and Wikipedia (yeah, I know), he is buried in Seattle.

It does seem weird that he would be buried here.

There's a guy who worked on the Experience tour quoted in some of the stories, name of Bob Merlis. I think he is still active in the business out in LA, but whether he knows/will say anything on this subject is anybody's guess.
