This was a huge shock to me! Norway isn't known for being a hotbed of terrorist type activities. Luckily the reports this morning said only 2 people had been killed. It could have been much worse.

Looks like it was much worse. I wonder when (or if) the world is going to wake up?

Just got this via email from one of my clients...

"The goverment building in Oslo was strucked by a bomb killing 7 seven people. One hour later a person with a automatic rifle, dressed like a policeman, started shooting teenagers joining a political gathering on a small island nearby Oslo. 600 youths was gathered on that island. So far 10 teenagers are confirmed dead, a lot of others still missing. The maniac was arrested by the police shortly after. They still dont know if the lunitic was operating alone, or if he`s just a disturbed young man, or if it`s Al quida behind this. The situation is chaotic, Norway is left in shock!"

My Norwegian buddy Rolf was at my house Tuesday night. He left from
Detroit to fly home to Norway Thursday night. I'm sure he's ok.
Shocking.

I'm pretty sure that the article that was linked in the first post stated that there were 91 dead as a result of both events!!

Good hunch Tonemerc. It was. I wondered too. The bomb could have been al Quaida, but shooting kids at a summer camp, no, that's not Al Quaida.

The question is how many more were complicit, whether 2 or two dozen. This might this serve as a wakeup call for the rest Europe.

Reuters is saying 92 dead.

My god, what a tragedy.

The same man — a blonde-blue eyed Norwegian with reported Christian fundamentalist, anti-Muslim views — is suspected in both attacks.

So if he is a Christian and non-muslim, what the heck was his goal?

There is no simple way to guard against lunatics doing this sort of thing.
If he couldn't get a gun, he would have found other means to kill.

Generally, most terrorist acts are an extreme display of political or philosophical diffences, which sometimes involve religion.

Now when I think of this act in the context of Europe and the rise of ultra nationalism, I think of cultual changes throughout Europe and some of this is based on immigration. Many times when economic growth is slow, people that feel disenfranchised act out.

Considering that Norway is faring better than many Euro nations, it's awake up call.

I would take a minute and seriously question all media reporting on this situation. There's a world wide need to make things look other than what they are.

Yep, I've already read a couple of things were wrong whether its the source or not who knows. However, the media outlets will take things and run with it.
