Warren H"s amps Pictures CD 100
Hey Guys,One fun cool thing I get to do is hang with Peter from Diaz amps.
He picked up after Ceasare Diaz passed away,He still takes care of Warren Haynes.Yesterday Brian Farmer sent 2 CD100 that got rained on to fix.Peter also had to send out the only other existing CD 100 (with dual output trannys) for them to use untill these two are fixed. We had these amps outside getting some sun yesterday,When they are done I get to play the Sh%t out of them and try to make them sound bad,Then off they go!I have to say Pete is a perfectionist ,He has really done the job well.I have a cd 30 and a cd 20,They really do have the marshall meets fender groove.I learn alot from that guy.It was really cool to stare into the guts of WH"s workhorses.Other than that being unemployed in East Stroudsburg Pa these days really sucks,Just thought Id share,Mikey

Can you give overview topology of the CD line here. Never heard one live and have a friend that just would love to buy one if he had the chance or funds.

Re: Warren H"s amps Pictures CD 100
The CD-100 is a single channel amp with hi and low gain inputs. The control panel consists of volume, treble, bass, reverb, and master volume. Also found on the control panel are the pilot light, standby switch, power switch, and half power/full power switch. There are three pull switches found on the control panel as well as bass cut mid and bright.

thanks thoughRe: Warren H"s amps Pictures CD 100
from what I can gather its basically a twin reverb without normal channel and tremolo. the tone stack caps are changed to .015uf and there are some other tweaks and voicing switches

Roe - Yeah, funny thing about that circuit.
I had a guy come over here about 12 years ago who came from back East, I thought it was NY. He has with him an *original* Diaz CD100, or what was to become the CD100, actually. What he had was a Princton Reverb chassis with a single channel TwinReverb shoehorned into it!! Yes, four 6L6s, and I can't remember if it had tremelo or not, BTW, but I think it did. The face panel was gold plexi material with hand written in black lettering (from behind somehow - reverse etched?) listing all the control features and very nicely done. There was also a similar panel on the back. The circuit board, which was a typical Fender style affair, was completley covered in some type of ugly brown spray foam. I mean there were absolutely no parts visible.
The problem he was having was an intermittant popping sound, small, but bothersome. The tubes we swapped and the sockets I cleaned - no change. So what to do? I told him I could track down the area by removing tubes, but I would still have to take some of the foam off to do the work. At this junction he balked and we parted company. I did play out of it and it was pleasant sounding and loud, pretty much a TR in a small box.
OK, another part of the story is how he came to own it. He said it was in a store in New York, gathering dust pretty much. At the time he wasn't into Diaz at all and knew nothing about him. He played it for a minute or two, and made a deal with the salesperson and bought it - cool, a powerful amp in a small box, that's all he saw. I think he said he paid $750 for it.
And then the story takes a twist. After he had the amp for six months, he learns who Diaz is, SRV tech, etc., and wants to know more about the amp. Thinking he has fallen into a collectable of huge *prototypical* magnitude, he calls the store and tries to find out if they had a relationship with Diaz and how many of these they had. The guy who answers the phone - who prolly owns the store - is kind of in the dark about exactly what amp this guy is talking about, but this guy proceeds to tell him about it. And very quickly the store guy tells him that if he has a collectable amp like that, then the store should never have sold it!! - a big mistake was made!! and he should return the amp!!, that they would refund his money. So at this point, the guy who has the amp, listens for a minute or two......... and hangs up.

So I suppose Cesar made a few of these and they are kicking around but I could be wrong. I could definitely see G.E. Smith playing one, too.

Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?
Re: Warren H"s amps Pictures CD 100
I had one on my bench. One of the later ones, I had to partially rebuild it, Cezar must have been ill when he was building it. .015 1600V 715 caps, alan bradley resistors...popping?...I wonder why! Mid boost, master volume implemented into a tweaked one channel twin reverb build without vibrato. Sounded really good when rebuild and recapped.
Just tweak a twin reverb and call it your own design. More fun!

I'm using a Diaz loaded board in my new Twin Reverb chassis so I will see how she sounds when I get her done, thanks Mikey.
