How many gigs in one week?
How many is too much?
This week is six.
The busy season is coming, already at least three weeks in the season with eight.

It's my unemployment that's trying to kill me.
If I had a real job life would really suck.

Re: How many gigs in one week?
Two to three a month is good for me. It gives me a good balance between having enough money to keep upgrading and building gear and having a wife that will still talk to me. I got the silent treatment for three days the last time I booked seven gigs in a month... but my band got super tight by the end of that month and I bought some really nice in-ear monitors.

I'm with Gibsonman - the band funds the amp building, and two-three per month is about right.
Depends what a gig consists of for you too. In my situation, my band also supplies the PA and runs sound, so a gig starts with loading the trailer at about 6pm, up through teardown/re-loading the trailer from 2-3am. All that for about $100 in my pocket! But it's $100 I can spend on amp parts/gear without guilt.

Does mixing count?
in season (sept-june) i mix 215 shows... plus at least 6 albums, and amp repairs. this season i've had 7 days off total mostly holidays. In my off season July-August I mix/ track at least another 2 albums, and try to take august off and get up to the northwest to go fishing and track down more amps

Re: How many gigs in one week?
holy cow.... haven't broken 200 shows yet but the season is still young.
Had fun last night, got to do sound for the Spinney Bros., 3 mic blue grass.
not counting the bass DI and bass vox.. I got em' the next two nights.

After ring out you just let them go, great performers. Top rated ECMA
Counted 12-14 moose on the trail home.

sounds like the riders in the sky and the 3 tenors just set the 6-8 mics and let them mix it. those are relaxing shows then we get the televised symphony with a headliner totalling 190 mics plus monitors, show feeds and video... running 3 large format consoles. or broadway with 30+ body mics and a script to follow. plus a pit full of musicians.
all in all though its good times.
no moose but i saw a roadrunner and a bunch of snow birds lol

Re: How many gigs in one week?
I like 3 shows a week if possible, but it usually doesn't work out like that. Especially with 6 people in a band that is composed of college students..

Yes, the season is here.
I have four this weekend starting Friday.
Make hay while the sun shines.
Later comes February, where you just wish you had one now and again!

Re: How many gigs in one week?
filled the week today, and got approached for a major bluegrass fest.
I got monday off, gonna have to plan off days. If the August is gonna be as
full as it looks, might have 30 to 60 days no breaks, holy crap batman.
I never thought being unemployed would run me ragged like that.
Might even have to start keeping track of income and declare.
Take what comes and see what may.... busy is good but jeez....

Re: How many gigs in one week?
last nights pick up gig was Darol Anger's Republic of Strings.
So I work through the sound check and we're beset with gremlins.
and their peculiar about the tone, I had no clue really, pre show, who this smoe is...
busy week.....
the mother in law is up my butt and the cello player is missing teeth....
until the mc's intro... holy cow, and what a blast to mix.

Sounds good to me. When it was my only income I tried for 6 as an average but since there are peaks and valleys I'd go for 8 in a week if I could and stash away the money for the weeks with only 3-4 gigs.
I don't think I could handle that today though, I was like 30 when I held that schedule down, I'm 59 now.
