Re: Metal triangle picks
When I worked at EMG as a young buck, one of the jobs was stamping the logo onto picks with gold foil that were included with each set of pickups. It was my favorite thing because it took two people to do the operation and I always got to work with this beautiful mexican girl Ana! The other cool part was that not every pick turned out good enough and went into a bag of seconds, those seconds became my favorite picks for long scale guitars. 26 years later, I'm down to two of those picks and one of them is almost round.
My favorite pick for my les paul with Billy Gibbons 7's on it was an old Gold nylon herco flex 50 that my grandpa gave me, luckily they're making those again.
For metal coin picks I highly recommend putting them on the railroad track before shaping them, it thins them out just right and they feel great in the hand.
P.S., I actually convinced Ana to go out on a couple of dates, she had to sneak out because her parents didn't want her dating gringos (especially a scary looking biker scumbag musician with long dreadlocks). She and her sister came to a party at my apartments and my neighbors threw a plugged in TV off the roof, and that was just too wild for them so I was back to being friends/co-workers.

Don't get caught, interfering with railroad equipment AFAIK a federal crime. These days you'd get terr'ist treatment. Besides, the railroads have enough trouble keeping their trains on the tracks.ER wrote:For metal coin picks I highly recommend putting them on the railroad track before shaping them, it thins them out just right and they feel great in the hand.
Better to heat up your coin red hot & wham it a couple times with a big sledge on an anvil. With an attractive assistant, so much the better. Keep your eye on the coin whilst hammering
Ah, good times! Didn't they do this sort of thing on the Letterman show 30 years ago?She and her sister came to a party at my apartments and my neighbors threw a plugged in TV off the roof, and that was just too wild for them so I was back to being friends/co-workers.
In my town, when the section 8's and non documented furriners toss their appliances out the window and onto the street, we know they're moving out of that apartment. Times have changed.
down technical blind alleys . . .

Wow this thread got legs.
Back to the Gravity picks, they are acrylic of some sort.
I remember trying the V Picks back a few years and couldn't believe the clackiness of the pick attack on the string.
Probably due more to my technique than anything.
So when Gravity Picks started up, he offered a free pick as an introductory offer.
I got a red Razer (about the size of the Jazz III) in 1mm, I believe, and it worked well for me.
May be a softer acrylic as far as I know, but it did not clack.
Since then I have tried other sizes and thicknesses and I am sold.

News flash; in a recent interview, Eddie Van Halen blames using metal picks and holding them in his mouth for his tongue cancer.

Re: Metal triangle picks
I found my original metal triangle yesterday in the flaps of a box I was about to toss. Way better profile than all the other ones.
The quarters are better for 90% of it but can fly with the tight edge of the flat stainless.

Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

Hey, Reeltarded. I found you a replacement metal pick that is great for punk-a-billy. It comes in packs of a hundred , too.

Re: Metal triangle picks
Well. you could use the folded edge but the bleeding would make it hard to hold on to.

Re: Metal triangle picks
Yeah.. purple tortex is floppy now.. go see if you don't believe me.
I still use them but shorter than stock by 30% and low angle flare out from a super tight point. I keep a nail file on my rig to keep them sharp.
