The old percolator coffee maker is the only way to go. :)

Two methods of an era gone by are the percolator (my parents were New Yorkers and pronounced it perk-u-later, LOL) and the vacuum drip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxIs2GVsqgY . I always thought the vacuum drip was the coolest. For cryin' out loud these got really expensive. http://www.amazon.com/Bodum-Santos-Stov ... B00005NCX5 I remember a two piece metal one with a rubber seal that must have been in the $$ range for ordinary people. You knew to turn it off when it started to drain back into the pot.

I have a Corningware stovetop percolator, but the handle is cracked in two pieces and I can't find a replacement. I used to have a Pyrex one, too, but the insides were lost long ago. I've tried to mend the handle on the Corning pot, but it always comes apart when heated. I need some kind of adhesive that will not soften when heated. Any ideas?

My parents were big fans of the Farberware perc. They had a small one (4c?) and a big one (10c?). My father liked hot coffee and he swore this was the only way to get a really hot cup of it. He could inhale a cup before I was ready to drink mine. They still make these.

I've got the 40c Farberware, but the seal between the water chamber and the heating element gave up the ghost rendering it useless. I keep threatening my wife I'm going to take it apart and apply Permatex (for cars) yummy. I really should contact Farberware and see if they will supply the proper part.

The press is working out fine for me at the moment. I have been making whole pots in a cup. Reminds me of Miami.

Need cream! I need a cow, huh?

I like sweetened condensed milk, but normally half and half prolly fats up the yum yums. Condensed milk is a luxury item. As much as enough steak to feed a family of 4 was in 1970. hah

You kids get out of my yard..

Only if it's marketed correctly: Chock full o' meth. hmmm..

I feel a song comin' on. Maybe more than one.

From the 30's: "Who put the benzedrine in Missus Murphy's Ovaltine?"

Or "I want a proper cup of coffee from a proper copper coffeepot."

And from more recent times, "Up All Night" Boomtown Rats, I think.

Meth can only be so concentrated.

I can OD on coffee way before I hit 90% purity. 8 scoops in the press and I start hearing the thoughts of others, 12 scoops and I can control those thoughts.

When I am at a friends and they ask me if I would like a cup of coffee and I see a can of Folgers on the counter, I politely decline.

I hate to be a coffee snob but after grinding my own beans for 30+ years I just can't do canned coffee anymore.

I like a dark roasted bean usually from Costa Rica or Guatemala.

I don't like Colombian beans at all.

Does anyone know anything about how coffee enemas work? Do you need a coffee maker?
Not sure about that, but for $30 a cup you could get weasel poop coffee.

Never had the money to try it myself. And I would hope for that price that they would brew it for you. :)
I mentored a Vietnamese graduate student a few years ago. He brought a pound of civet-processed coffee to share as a treat. Trust me - it's an acquired taste. I didn't drink enough of it to acquire a preference for it. I don't know that I care to.

+1 for that! We've a local roaster that does a fine dark roast of both Costa Rica and Guatemala. I left my French press in RJ's office so we can always be sure of a good cup of coffee when we're talking amps.
