Well, yes, I said it badly. Always push. I was really discussing the orientation of the router with respect to the work piece. Of course you have to move around. One side is back to front. The other is front to back. I am sorry I gave poorly worded advice that was not safe. Thank you for stepping in.

My only worthwhile point was to watch out for unwanted tear-out at the front where it shows.

Just didn't want any misinterpretations, your advice is always good.

Success!

Finally got it fixed with the help of some neighbors, what a great community! They rigged up a jig that held a smaller circular saw and I cut off 1/2" on each side, stained it and then we manhandled it into place on the buffet.

So, the bottleneck is gone now, only 30 or 40 more boxes to unpack(!) My tubes are still in the garage, my amps & tools are mostly in the crawlspace between the main floor and the walkout basement. Another 2 weeks probably to full organization.

In the middle of all this I had to put one of our older cats to sleep. Victoria had a tumor on the outside of her butt and a large squamous cell tumor in her mouth. I have done this before but that doesn't make it any easier.

Jana wrote:You guys are over thinking this and making it way too complicated. You need to cut the house in half and then add one more 2*4. This will give you an extra inch and a half so you have a quarter inch to play with on each side of the hutch. :)

I just moved into a house and I'm up to my elbows in projects. It seems like every time I find one project to do (I don't have to look hard to find one), I uncover two more projects that need to be done first.

Oh, the hot water heater lasted a whole 13 days after I bought the house. I do know that the floor drain in the basement works!
I gotta take care of 14 houses.did you try hitting it with a hammer?
