I use to like the beatles.I've never been a huge fan or anything.but I liked them.
My woman is bound and determined to see Paul McCartney. You know thats gonna cost out the ass.She hasn't even told me what the tickets cost.I'm gonna guess at least $250 bucks a ticket.Plus hotel, food, gas etc.
Now I hate the beatles

Don't hold it against the Beatles, it started going bad with Wings.

Re: Cashing in on Lennon
I would rather watch a youtube vid of someone in their prime than someone 40 years beyond their prime who sounds like they lost thier mind.
Have you heard Paul's Starbucks drivel? He sounds like a pervert trying to disguise his voice. 70 year old man singing about Valentine's..
Beh.. haha

Yes, I (unfortunately) did hear it. Dreadful. Why didn't someone stop him?*Reeltarded wrote: ..................

* Q: Why didn't someone stop him?
A: Because he has an ego that dwarfs good sense and propriety.
Caveat: I hated that "stuff" Elvis Costello did with Burt Bacharach. Hated it! So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Oh man you and everyone.
Paul sounds like they made the CDs for 45rpm but modern CD players only have 33rpm....

I've always felt that the Beatles original skills were that John could sing Chuck Berry, and Paul could sing Little Richard. That made them the two best white rock singers going at the time. They started there and turned into great writers also.
Paul, like many great rock and blues artists, got seduced by how famous he could be and how much money he could make singing schmaltzy ballads, that make girls weep and their boyfriends buy the records. So he stopped doing what he does best, singing Little Richard.
For your consideration, I submit Paul singing Long Tall Sally, and John singing Rock and Roll Music.
Great great rock singing.
The Long and Winding Road. Make me barf.

^^^ Lets also not forget George. To me, he tops the other two in writing, playing and singing... RIP

As much as I love the Beatles and Paul McCartney, the last couple shows I saw on TV demonstrate that he should probably retire.
He is not able to hit the notes and his voice is not real strong anymore.
I find it sad when aging musicians (singers) insist on performing when they could retire and leave a grand legacy of their recordings for our enjoyment.

I agree that he is not hitting many notes anymore. Retire? Paul is most likely gonna retire when he dies. Music is what he does and lives for. It's his passion. It ain't likely that he is going to give it up. BB hasn't and there are many others in the same category. Hell, I ain't gonna quit performing and it's not my WHOLE life.

Just watch and listen to Sir Paul playing with Dave Grohl and Co. at the end of Grohl's Sound City. He is in his element and having a ball.

It gives me great joy to see monster musicians like McCartney (and insert your favorite genius here) at work well into their later years. You can see that the child never left them...they are as young as they ever were, only trapped in an aging shell. We all cling to the image of our heroes at their peak, but nothing but the song remains the same. Look at /2ush. Those guys are as good as they ever were (even better) and still filling arenas with new generations of fans. Most of the old fans are now bringing their kids. I notice the arenas don't smell like high school parking lots as much as they used to any more
