Great stuff then, and I agree on all three.
I've posted a little over yonder but the responses are nothing like here.

Here we have reasonable responses and good questions...and respectful answers.
Only a very occasional firestorm but not like the lemming group forums.

Think that's bad?
Take a look at Ultimate Guitar Forum.
Same thing but seemingly run by 13 year olds!

Awesome 13 year olds.. I'm guessing most of the threads are about getting pubes. LMAO. Oh and 3 note power chord songs. 8)

Different forums for different topics. I wouldn't post an amp question on TGP, even though there are some good techs over there. This forum and music-electronics are much more helpful. TGP is for store-bought gear discussion, goofing around in the pub, and the like. ReRanch is for guitar refinishing. TDPRI is for Tele talk and DIY projects. Tape-Op for recording chat.

TGP has a lot of good folks, but you do you have to sort through some nonsense to find the nuggets. It all depends on what you're looking for.

I need more practice, not more gear.

You've got to post your guitars, effects pedals, cables, what kind of strings you use, and that you like putting your amps to "11"
OK just for you i posted the guitars too

I remember well my first post over on TGP, within minutes I received a very friendly PM telling me to go back to HC with the rest of the 16 year olds.

BTW, at the time I did not even know HC meant Harmony Central! I never visit that site.

Well needless to say at age 52(at the time) I was rather set back by the comment, but then I realized I was giving a youthful impression and felt complemented.

Now I have better than 5000 posts of mostly useless dribble.
Funny thing, I swear I generally read more interesting things here than I do there.

I was poking around on tgp looking for a good deal on a historic Jr or 335. I emailed some dude to see f he wanted to arrange a trade...

He emailed back and asked me what my "trade bait" was. I couldn't even write him back. Trade bait?

I don't think TGP knew what to do or say when Selloutrr posted his list of amps and guitars.

Sort of like a stunned silence.

We have all heard of penis envy, this was amp and guitar envy.
Sort of the same thing, just a different measuring device. :D

There is some good info on TGP but it seems just about all threads end in a pissing match because someone feels slighted or some sarcasm didn't translate well.
With that huge membership, the probability of hurt feelings is almost guaranteed.

This (The Amp Garage) is my favorite forum because it is cut and dry, just guys building amps and helping each other to do so.

I stumbled onto this forum when I was researching Dumble amps and ended up buying a Brown Note D'lite 44. (before they went down the tube).

Everything I have learned about Dumbles and Trainwrecks has come from here.

Hats off to the guys that have helped me get a handleon these great amps.
Up until a few years ago and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would build a 50w Dumble style amp.
Let alone a clone of a 100w Overdrive Special.
Every time I fire that amp up I get a smile on my face.

Knowledge is a very cool thing and probably if it wasn't for Gil and Billy we would have been scratching our heads for quite some time until the veil was lifted. :D

I'm a big TAG fan too, I think its pretty obvious, and I came here when I retolxed an Express clone last fall for KFs demo guy to find out what a Trainwreck was...now I build amps! Crazy for sure. There are some good dudes at tgp I just get turned off by the swindling and terms that are coined are so cheese. I got some decent recovering business there for awhile but I would rather build cabs for you guys and learn something rather than rip apart a review of a Chinese built fender reissue that I bought retail at guitar center from a 17 yr old shredder

I tried poking around over there too... what a pile of BS

Its the difference between mp3 and vinyl. If you grew up with records you know

nothing like getting nothing but a blank look from some puke less than half
(or 1/4) your age

I guess if your a promoter and have a product to push, it would be a great place

Ignorance makes for better sales...

I bet TAG could market ten simple amp mods over at the TGP for a dollar
a down load and make a killing, especially if you could text like a 13 y old

Personally, I have trouble following a thread once it reaches 40 posts.

... wait, that's me. I meant 41 posts.

Serously, so many of those threads are several hundred posts long. Who has time to read all of that?

The thing that pisses me off the most is the bs from the sellers/shills.
There's a guy on tgp selling a silicon tonebender that he claims uses a proprietary chip. Well the chip turns out to be a transistor array that he sands the ID markings off of. Not proprietary at all. He doesn't own the patent for it. Any knob like me can walk into an electronics store and buy one for less than a buck. He says he "voices the silicone to sound like germanium". So I ask him how he voices a transistor to sound germanium, and I get an infraction for being a troll.

The mods are a big problem there too by allowing the bs to flourish. That site is a big waist of time. If you like reading, what's best, this vs that, and should I put my tubescreamer first or last in my pedal chain threads, then tgp is for you.
